- AEO
- Answer Engine Optimization: preparing a brand and its content to be understood, cited and recommended inside AI-generated answers.
- GEO
- Generative Engine Optimization: an overlapping discipline focused specifically on generative answer surfaces.
- AI Visibility
- The measured presence of a brand across monitored AI answers for a defined set of prompts.
- Answer Engine
- A system that synthesises a direct answer from multiple sources rather than returning a list of links.
- Citation
- A source referenced by an answer engine when producing a response.
- Entity
- A distinct thing — a company, product, person, place or topic — that a model can identify and relate to other things.
- Structured Data
- Machine-readable markup, usually JSON-LD, that states facts and relationships explicitly.
- Schema
- The vocabulary (schema.org) used to describe entities in structured data.
- Knowledge Graph
- A network of entities and their relationships used to ground answers in known facts.
- LLM
- Large language model: the underlying system that interprets a question and generates an answer.
- Semantic Search
- Retrieval based on meaning and intent rather than exact keyword matching.
- Prompt Tracking
- Monitoring a defined set of customer questions to observe which brands and sources appear.
- Answer Share
- The proportion of eligible monitored answers in which a brand appears.
